La porte du feu (The door of fire)
My first clearly surrealist painting started as a nice lanscape. But i’m always painting emotions under pretty disguises. Those emotions were too big, too raw, too fiery for that setting. The painting was stuck. Then one night, i woke and painted the whole canvas with black gesso : the volcano was ready to erupt. The painting kept the structure of the previous attempt, showing that it’s not a new one, it’s an evolution, a bigger step toward authenticity
